COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan defenseman Scott Moldenhauer has been named a finalist for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.
The winner of the award will be announced on Thursday, March 15 at the annual NCHC Awards Banquet. The Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year is voted upon by the conference's Faculty Academic Representatives (FARs).
Moldenhauer boasts a 3.88 GPA in business management, is a three-time NCHC Scholar Athlete and a three-time NCHC All-Academic Team selection. He has captained the Broncos this season and has also been a leader off ice. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honors society membership granted to the top 10 percent of business students, a member of the Dean's List at Western Michigan for eight semesters and was a finalist in 2018 for the Presidential Scholarship Award from the WMU Department of Management.
Moldenhauer has appeared in 32 games this season, scoring one goal and nine assists for 10 points.
The Broncos are back in action this weekend in the NCHC Quarterfinals. WMU travels to Minnesota-Duluth to take on the Bulldogs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary). All games will be at 8:07 p.m. and can be watched live on NCHC.tv.
