KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan volleyball head coach
Colleen Munson announced on Tuesday that setter Mary Marzo is joining the program as a transfer. Marzo played her first two seasons at Gonzaga University and will be eligible to play for the Broncos starting with the 2019 season.
In the past two seasons at Gonzaga, Marzo played in 24 matches (46 sets) and recorded 179 assists, averaging 3.89 per set. The 5-11 setter also had 52 digs, 11 kills, five service aces and two blocks.
This past season Marzo played in 13 matches recording 124 assists along with four service aces and 38 digs.
Prior to Gonzaga, Marzo was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Ill., and led her team to back-to-back regional championships in 2015 and 2016. As a senior she earned All-Conference honors and was named a team captain.
At the club level, Marzo played for 1
st Alliance VBC out of Chicago and helped the team take fifth place at the AAU Volleyball Junior National Championship in June of 2017. Marzo is the daughter of David Marzo and has four siblings with her sister Emily playing at Providence College.
