CLEVELAND – After scoring a career-high 31 points at No.5 Michigan on Saturday, Western Michigan men's basketball sophomore guard
Michael Flowers has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Flowers scored half of the Broncos points against the Wolverines, going 9-of-16 from the field and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. The Southfield, Mich., native also corralled seven rebounds and scored in double figures for the fourth straight game.
His 31 points was the most a player has scored against Michigan this season. Flowers 31 points was the most by a Bronco against a Big Ten team since Bronco hall of famer and current Michigan assistant coach Saddi Washington had 33 points versus Michigan back in 1997.
The Southfield, Mich., native currently ranks second on the team and 14
th in the MAC with 15.3 points per game. Against Ole Miss, Cincinnati and Michigan this season, Flowers is averaging 18.6 points and shooting 53.1 percent from the field.
