Men’s Basketball Set for Showdown at Cincinnati Monday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team is set for a showdown with defending American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion Cincinnati on Monday, Nov. 19 inside Fifth Third Arena.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan with an overall record of 3-1 is off to its best start since 2014 and is coming off a 99-52 victory over Aquinas College on Saturday. The Broncos have had a balanced offensive attack early on this season with senior Seth Dugan, senior Josh Davis and sophomore Kawanise Wilkins each averaging in double figures.

Last Time Out
On Saturday, Western Michigan shot a staggering 57.4 percent from the field to defeat Aquinas, 99-52. The Broncos knocked down 16 three-pointers' against the Saints, the second most in a game in school history. Sophomore Michael Flowers led the way with a career-high 19 points.

Flowers Bloomin'
Sophomore Michael Flowers has played well in the past two games averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. Flowers at Oakland notched his first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Against Aquinas the Southfield, Mich., native had 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field.

Points, Points, and more Points
Through four games WMU has totaled 337 points, averaging 84.2 per game. The Broncos' 337 points is the most through the first four games of the season since 1970.

The first to 70
In the past two season the Broncos have an overall record of 43-23 when scoring over 70 points. When scoring over 80, WMU is 28-10.

Need An Assist
The Broncos rank second in the Mid-American Conference and 74th in the NCAA with 16.5 assists per game. Flowers ranks ninth in the MAC with 3.5 assists per game.

On the Horizon
Following its game at Cincinnati, WMU will head to Florida for two games at the Emerald Coast Classic, Nov. 23-24. The Broncos will square off with Southern University on Friday, Nov. 23 before playing either North Carolina Central or Nicholls State on Saturday, Nov. 24.
