KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's soccer team hosts Oakland University on Tuesday, Oct. 9 for a non-conference match at WMU Soccer Complex, looking to bounce back after its first loss in six matches. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with the match being broadcasted by ESPN3.

The Broncos (6-5-1, 0-1-0 MAC) opened their 2018 Mid-American Conference schedule versus West Virginia University on Sunday, Oct. 7 at WMU Soccer Complex. The Mountaineers snapped WMU's six-game unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win over the Brown & Gold.
Cameron Sipple put Western Michigan up 1-0 with a penalty kick goal at the 21st minute, but two unanswered goals by WVU handed the Broncos their first loss since the 3-2 overtime loss at No. 21 Michigan Sept. 7.
Series History
Tuesday's match will mark the 31st all-time matchup between Western Michigan and Oakland, with the Golden Grizzlies owning a 23-5-2 series advantage. WMU snapped a three-game losing skid versus Oakland last season, prevailing 2-1 last September in Rochester, Mich.

The Golden Grizzlies improved their overall record to 6-4-2 with a 3-1 victory over Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Oct. 6. Oakland currently sits in sixth place in the Horizon League standings with a 2-2 conference mark. Nebojsa Popovic ranks among the top-five scorers in the Horizon League with 16 points off five goals and six assists. Goalkeeper Sullivan Lauderdale has started all 12 games in net for the Golden Grizzlies and owns a .735 save percentage with two shutouts.
Head coach Eric Pogue, in his 10th season at the helm of the Oakland program, is a WMU alum. Pogue played four years at WMU from 1996-1999, starting all four seasons for the Broncos and was named team captain and earned MVP honors for his final three seasons.
