KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Western Michigan men's soccer team, who entered the 2018 season ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Division I North Region, entered the top-10 regional poll for the first time since Sept. 4. The Broncos rank No. 8 in the Oct. 16 poll after earning a 3-0 win over Oakland and a 1-1 draw against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville last week.Â
Fellow Mid-American Conference opponents SIUE and Northern Illinois are also featured in the regional poll, with SIUE at No. 5 and NIU at No. 10.
The Brown & Gold (8-5-2 overall, 0-1-1 MAC) most recently earned a 2-1 overtime victory versus Xavier University on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at WMU Soccer Complex. The Broncos scored off an own goal six minutes into overtime to secure a win in their final non-conference match of the season.Â
Western Michigan begins a three-game stretch of Saturday MAC contests, heading to Bowling Green State University on Oct. 20. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ohio.Â
