KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan men's tennis hits the road this weekend for three matches against Iowa, Drake and Tennessee Tech, Jan. 19-21. All matches are played at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

WMU takes on Big Ten Conference opponent Iowa on Friday, Jan. 19 at 7:00 p.m. before squaring off with Drake at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. To round out the weekend, the Broncos face Tennessee Tech at 11:00 a.m.
The Broncos are coming off two wins against Xavier (6-1) and Detroit Mercy (5-2) last weekend. WMU dominated in doubles, sweeping all six matches. The doubleheader inside West Hills Athletic Club saw sophomore Jannik Opitz and juniors Lenhard Haupt and Matej Svjetlicic go 2-0 in singles matches to start the spring season.
Senior Maik Steiner, junior Nick Schnobel and junior Eric Olivarez also earned singles victories for the Broncos on the day. Haupt, Opitz and Steiner all have double digit wins on the season while Steiner is currently ranked 65 in the ITA singles rankings.
Before taking on the Broncos later in the day, Iowa will face Marquette at 11:00 a.m. Kareem Allaf, Jake Jacoby, Jonas Larsen and Josh Silverstein all have double digit wins on the season for the Hawkeyes as Larsen leads the team with 15 wins. In doubles, the duos of Silverstein/Theodorou (10-6) and Haden/Jacoby (13-8) have double digit wins this season.
Drake will be playing Tennessee Tech and Northern Illinois before taking on the Broncos Saturday afternoon. Drake has six players who have double digit wins this season and of those six, Vinny Gilliespie and Tom Hands have 20 wins. Junior Ben Clark is ranked number 124 in the ITA singles rankings.
Tennessee Tech is 0-1 this season with a 6-1 loss to Tennessee. Eduardo Mena leads the way for the Golden Eagles with a 10-7 record. Mena is ranked 28th in the ITA singles rankings. In doubles, the team of Albin/Mila have a 3-1 record which is tops for the Golden Eagles.
Western Michigan will be back in action at home on Sunday, January 28 for a doubleheader against Butler at 9:00 a.m. followed by Illinois State at 2:30 p.m. Both matches will be played inside the West Hills Athletic Club.
