COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan junior Corey Schueneman has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week for his performance in WMU's split with No. 2 St. Cloud State over the weekend.

Schueneman netted two goals and two assists in the series as the Broncos upset the Huskies 7-5 on Friday night and fell 4-3 on Saturday. In Friday's win he tied the game at 3-3 with his second goal of the season, erasing a 3-1 deficit in. Minutes after his second period goal he fed Jade McMullen for a goal from the slot to give the Broncos a 4-3 lead.

On Saturday he saw a shot from the point deflected in by Dawson DiPietro to give WMU a 1-0 lead with time expiring in the first period. After SCSU took a 3-2 lead he tied it up with a power play goal late in the third period.

This is the second NCHC Defenseman of the Week honors for Milford, Mich., native.

Schueneman and the Broncos are back in action and return to Lawson Ice Arena this weekend for the first time since Dec. 9, hosting Colorado College on Friday and Saturday night. Friday's game has been pushed to a 6:30 p.m. start time and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Saturday's game will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX and online at WMUBroncos.com/tickets.
