COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Lindsey Hufnagel ran the Mid-American Conference's fastest 400-meter hurdle time as the Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up competition at the Jesse Owens Classic at The Ohio State University on Saturday.
Hufnagel ran a time of 59.16 seconds to take second in the 400 hurdles to push her to the top of the MAC's performance list. The time was also a new personal best, improving upon her previous best time of 59.41 ran at the Crimson Tide Invitational. Fellow senior Keyera Lige ran her best time of the season in the event at 1:01.70, taking seventh overall. Hufnagel also nearly had a personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 13.97 seconds would have eclipsed her previous best mark of 14.05 if not for an illegal wind rating.
Freshman sprinter Madison Meredith ran a time of 11.73 seconds in the 100-meter dash to take sixth overall in an impressive field. She was joined by Sarita Dotson, Naiomi Dulaney and Gaines to run a time of 46.32 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay, taking second place.
In the 800-meter run senior Jordan Anderson was the top finisher for the Broncos. Anderson finished with a time of 2:11.44 and took fifth overall and fourth collegiately.
In the shot put, junior Savannah Dugan took seventh overall with a distance of 42' 5.50" and then took the same spot in the hammer throw with a distance of 174' 6".
Next week the Broncos head to the famed Penn Relay Carnival and the Hillsdale Relays.
