Men's Tennis Announces the Signing of Three Standout Players

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan men's tennis is proud to announce the signings of Nicholas Hebda, Peter Kuszynski and Jack Randall to the 2018-2019 roster.

"We've added three outstanding student-athletes to our roster for 2018, and I am excited for our future," commented WMU head coach Dave Morin. "Not only will they challenge for positions immediately, but with their size and passion for the game I could potentially see all of them in the top half of our lineup during their careers."

Hebda, a native of Chicago, Ill., currently attends Notre Dame College Prep. He won the East Suburban Catholic tournament title in singles and finished in seventh place overall in the Illinois State High School Association's Tennis Singles Finals during his junior season. Hebda is currently ranked 12th in the state of Illinois, 32nd in the Midwest while his best national ranking was as high as 275. He plans to major in physical therapy or wants to become a physician assistant.

Canadian standout Kuszynski is a two-time Provincial Doubles Champion and finished top-seven at Nationals two times. At Provincials he finished top-10 four times, with two fifth place finishes as well as sixth and was a finalist.  He reached as high as No. 7 in the Canadian rankings and was third in Ontario. Kuszynski plans to major in business when he attends Western Michigan.

Randall, a native of Lockport, Ill., holds the record for most career varsity wins in Lockport High School history. The TennisRecruiting.net four-star recruit finished in fifth place at the Illinois High School State Championships during his junior year. This year, he was crowned the 2017 Midwest Open Doubles champion after being a three-time doubles finalist. He has been ranked as high as No. 88 nationally and is second in the state of Illinois and sixth in the Great Lakes Region. He plans to study business and possibly purse a career in the tennis profession.
