KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior Western Michigan offensive lineman Taylor Moton has been named to the 2016 Outland Trophy Award Watch List the Football Writers Association of America announced Friday. The award recognizes the most outstanding interior lineman, both on offense and defense.
Moton was one of just three players in the MAC to earn a spot on the list. He was included as one of 22 offensive tackles. During his career, Moton has played both right guard and right tackle. Last season, the 6-5, 328 pound standout was named to the All-MAC team after starting all 13 games and help paving the way for the 29th ranked rushing attack in the country.
One of the standout games of the season in 2015 came against Ohio when Moton blasted open holes for the Bronco running backs to amass 401 yards rushing in the second half. This helped lead to freshman Jamauri Bogan being named MAC Offensive Freshman of the Year. Bogan also earned Popeyes Bahamas Bowl MVP Honors after Moton opened up holes allowing him to run for 215 yards and four touchdowns in Western Michigan's first-ever bowl win.
Aside from being dominant up front, Moton is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection. He owns a 3.31 GPA in accounting.
