PHOENIX, Ariz. – Western Michigan cornerback Ronald Zamort became the fourth Bronco player to be picked up by an NFL team this week as the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with him on a free agent contract, the team announced.
Zamort was a three-year starter for the Broncos, playing in 49 games with 38 starts. He had 149 tackles (98 solo), six interceptions, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one sack and 54 passes defended. As a senior, Zamort was second-team All-MAC after he played in 13 games and had a career-high 59 tackles and 19 passes defended as well as one interception. His 19 passes defended ranked 14th in the FBS in 2015 after tying teammate Donald Celiscar for the FBS lead in that category in 2014 with 21.
Ronald was with the Broncos for five seasons, beginning in 2011. He oversaw the team go from one win in 2013 to back-to-back eight win seasons in 2014 and 2015 for the first time in program history, including the team's first bowl win in program history.
Zamort joins Jarrell McKinney as the other Bronco to be picked up by an NFL team following the draft. McKinney was invited to the Houston Texans rookie camp. Willie Beavers (4th round – Minnesota Vikings) and Daniel Braverman (7th round – Chicago Bears) were each drafted on Saturday.
