Lukas Hafner Signed by Hometown Toledo Walleye

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Western Michigan hockey goalie Lukas Hafner will be making his professional debut in front of his home town of Toledo, Ohio on Friday night after signing with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

Hafner was signed on Friday as an emergency backup after Toledo's Jake Paterson was called up to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. The senior recently wrapped up his career with the Broncos, finishing with 25 wins and four shutouts in 72 career starts.

Hafner made an appearance in front of his hometown friends and family back on Dec. 30 in a 1-0 shutout win over No. 12/13 Bowling Green. He made 35 saves at the Huntington Center, home of the Walleye, to earn his lone shutout of the season.
