Broncos Fall to Blue Demons, 2-0

CHICAGO -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Friday evening with a 2-0 loss at No. 24 DePaul.

The Broncos (3-2-1) battled hard against the reigning Big East Champions but surrendered two late goals in the second half.

"I give DePaul a lot of credit," said head coach Nate Norman. "They are a very good team and they showed that today. I thought we played well in the first half but DePaul's energy level in the second half was tremendous. This will be a great lesson for us as we move forward in making sure we put two halves together against a very good team."

Abby Reed struck first for the Blue Demons, in what ultimately ended up being the game-winning goal, in the 61st minute. Reed fired a shot into the lower-left corner of the net for her third goal of the season.

Alexa Ben put DePaul up 2-0 in the 81st minute on a one-touch shot off a pass from Madeline Fick for her fourth goal of the season.

WMU's Stephanie Heber made four saves in the loss.

The Broncos host Illinois State on Friday at 5 p.m. for their final non-conference game of the 2015 season.
