KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team opened up play at the WMU Super Challenge Friday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club with an overall record of 6-5 including 2-3 in singles and 4-2 in doubles led by the duo of sophomore Ella Perinovic and freshman Katja Fevralev.

In singles play, Melina Lyubomirova earned a 6-2, 7-6 (7) win over Jessie Paul of Louisville in Flight A while Tracy Kuhle earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Natalie Looney of Iowa in Flight B. Lyubomirova improved to 7-4 this season and Kuhle moved to 8-3. Barbare Eristavi fell in Flight A, Denise Azcui fell in Flight C and Perinovic fell in the round robin flight.

In doubles play, the duo of Fevralev/Perinovic went 2-0 with wins over Dohanics/Thoms of Iowa and Appel/McLean of Indiana in their first time playing with each other this season. The teams of Kuhle/Eristavi and Lyubomirova/Azcui each went 1-1 on the day.

The WMU Super Challenge resumes play tomorrow with one round of singles, followed by one round of doubles and ending with another round of singles at West Hill Athletic Club where admission is free.
