Box Score FORT WAYNE, IND. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team earned their second straight road win with a 70-48 win over IPFW Sunday afternoon at Gates Sports Center. The Broncos improve to 4-2 and are winners of two straight and three of their last four while the Mastodons fall to 3-3 and have lost three straight.
WMU started the game off red hot and never looked back outscoring IPFW 18-2 in the first quarter and staying up by double-digits in the entire second half. The Broncos spent all but nine seconds of the game without the lead, where the game was tied 0-0. In the first half, the Broncos did not attempt either a 3-pointer or a free throw.
The Mastodons came into the game averaging 82.4 but the Broncos held them to 30-percent (18-of-60) from the floor. In the first and third quarters combined, WMU outscored IPFW 47-16. The Broncos won the rebounding battle 49-34, including 12 coming on the offensive glass and freshman Breanna Mobley accounting for six of those. The Brown & Gold also had more assists, blocks and bench points and less turnovers.
Individually, sophomore Teagan Reeves led the team with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting and also led with four blocks, and two steals while also grabbing seven rebounds. Miracle Woods and Mobley each just missed double-doubles as Woods finished with 13 points and nine rebounds and Mobley with eight points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Jessica Jessing finished with 10 points and grabbed five rebounds and freshman Logan McCane set a new career-high with four points.
For IPFW, Kamilah Carter led all scorers with 19 points while Peyton Fallis added 13. Keanna Gary led the team with 13 rebounds.
WMU stays on the road for the final game of their four-game road trip at Loyola-Chicago on Wednesday, December 2 at 8 p.m.
