KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan fell to St. Cloud State, 11-1, at Lawson Ice Arena on Saturday night.

SCSU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals by Joey Benik in the first 8:25 of the period. Aaron Hadley cut the lead to 2-1 at 12:04 on a nice pass by Mike McKee but after that it was all Huskies.

Patrick Russell pushed the score to 3-1 just before the end of the period, scoring at 18:55 on a power play.

David Morley, Ethan Prow, Ben Storm, and Russell again all scored in the second period. Benik added two more goals in the third period, along with Ryan Papa and Blake Winiecki to push the final score to 11-1.

SCSU finished 4-for-8 on the power play and outshot the Broncos 45-28. WMU finished 0-for-2 on the power play.

Western Michigan has its first bye week of the season next week and is back in action at the 2015 Shillelagh Tournament at the University of Notre Dame. WMU will take on RPI on Friday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. The Broncos are the defending Shillelagh Tournament Champions after beating Ohio State and Union last season.
