EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team returned to action after spending more than a week off from competition, falling 6-1 to the Michigan State Spartans at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility on Wednesday. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 8-8 on the season.
Nadin Indre recorded the lone point of the day for the Broncos with a win in the No. 1 singles match, defeating the Spartans' Drew Lied for his fourth win against a Big Ten opponent this season. Indre dropped the first set in a tiebreaker to Lied but bounced back to win the next two sets, taking the match 6-7 (6), 6-4, 1-0 (2) to improve to 21-12 in singles play on the season, 11-4 in dual match singles.
The Spartans clinched the doubles point by taking all matches, and took a 2-0 lead when Brett Forman defeated Jimmy Beckwith 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4 singles. Mac Roy won the No. 6 singles match over Pablo Mora to take a 3-0 lead, and Aaron Pfister clinched the team match with a straight sets win over Andrew Cahn at No. 2 singles.
