Women?s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Eastern Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of in-state rival Eastern Michigan Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex. The Eagles' Ellie Tillar scored the game-winning goal in the 39th minute.

Western Michigan held a 9-5 advantage on shots and a 5-3 count on corner kicks. Both Bronco goalkeeper Stephanie Heber and EMU goalie Megan McCabe made three saves. Senior Rachel Chaney led WMU with two shots.

WMU's best opportunity at a goal came in the final 30 seconds of the game, when junior Irene Young served a corner kick into the box from the right side. Senior Nicole Hatcliffe got a foot on the ball, but McCabe made a diving save to preserve the Eastern Michigan shutout.

Tillar's goal for EMU was her second of the season. She finished back post off a pass from Emily Dzik.

The loss drops Western Michigan's record to 10-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

The Broncos have one final game remaining in the regular season, hosting Northern Illinois Thursday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m.
