ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team took a pair of singles matches from the 26th-ranked team in the nation, but the Broncos ultimately fell 5-2 to the Michigan Wolverines at the Varsity Tennis Center. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 1-1 on the season; they will be back in action with a doubleheader on Monday against Illinois-Chicago and Chicago State.

Nadin Indre won his second straight match at No. 1 singles with a convincing decision over Alex Petrone. Indre took a break-point advantage in each set against Petrone, defeating him 6-3, 6-3 to tie the overall match score at 1 after the Wolverines took the doubles point against the Broncos. Jimmy Beckwith was also successful in his singles match, winning by a score identical to Indre's against Alex Buzzi in the No. 4 match. Beckwith's win again tied the score for the Broncos, setting the match at 2-2 with three singles matches remaining on the court.

Michigan took a 3-2 lead in the match when Justin Rossi defeated Ruben Greiner 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match, and the Wolverines clinched the match with a three-set win in No. 6 singles. Matt Hamilton forced Kevin Wong to a third set by taking a first set tiebreaker, but Wong defeated Hamilton 5-6 (7), 6-2, 6-0 to close out the match and earn the win for Michigan.
