CLEVELAND - The preeminent prognosticator of college football, Phil Steele, has released his preseason All-Mid-American Conference Teams and seven Broncos comprise eight selections.
Of the eight selections, five reside on the defensive side of the ball led by senior linebacker Johnnie Simon as one of the Broncos' two first team selections. Jaime Wilson joins Simon as a first team honoree, garnering the nod as a punt returner but also showing up as a second team selection at wide receiver.
Joining Wilson on the second team, and the only other offensive selection for the Broncos, is senior offensive lineman Terry Davisson. Davisson, who is being honored as an offensive tackle, will move to center in 2013, showing his versatility along the offensive line.
Justin Currie, one of two defensive backs to make the list for WMU, earned Second Team Preseason All-MAC at safety by Phil Steele, while Donald Celiscar garnered third team honors at cornerback.
Joining Celiscar on the third team defensive unit are Travonte Boles, WMU's lone defensive lineman on the list, and linebacker Desmond Bozeman.
In 2012, Wilson was named the MAC Freshman of the Year and earned all-conference accolades as a receiver and return man. Simon, Currie and Bozeman are the Broncos' top three returning tacklers from a season ago with Simon leading the way with 103. Both Currie and Bozeman each reached the 90 tackle plateau with 98 and 90, respectively.
Boles trailed only Bozeman with 3.5 sacks among returning defenders, while Celiscar led the MAC in not only pass break ups (14), but passes defended (16) as well.
