4x400 Runs Fastest Time of the Season at the Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Western Michigan track and field team capped off the Meyo Invitational with the 4x400 meter relay team running its fastest time of the season.

The team of Rebecca Hall, Iris Campbell, Andrea Arnold and Lindsey Hufnagel combined for a time of 3:42.53, taking nearly three seconds off their previous season-best time. The time was made even more impressive after Campbell had less than an hour to recover after she won her heat in the 400 meter dash and finished fifth over all with a time of 55.51 seconds.

"Iris really had some pep in her step," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "She ran a great split for us in the second leg. We mixed up the order with Rebecca leading off for the first time ever and she didn't get out out to the best start but we still ran our best time of the year."

Hufnagel also got a chance to run the anchor leg for the first time this season.

Hall and Arnold also ran solid times in the 200 meter dash. Hall finished with a time of 25.07 and Arnold finished just behind her at 25.18 in a tough field.

WMU heads to Geneva, Ohio next week for the 2012 SPIRE Invitational at the Spire Institute Track Facility.
