KALAMAZOO, Mich. - It was announced today that
Nadin Indre of the Western Michigan men's tennis team was named the MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Feb. 27. It is the second time he has won the award this season, and the fourth MAC weekly award he has won this year; Indre was twice named the MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week this spring.
Indre was dominant in singles play against top-flight competition last week, registering No. 1 singles wins against #36 Drake and Iowa. Indre defeated the #72 singles player in the country in Drake's James McKie on Saturday, controlling the tempo in defeating McKie 6-2, 6-2 in the Broncos' loss to the Bulldogs.
Indre continued his inspired play on Sunday, earning both a singles and doubles win against the Hawkeyes. Indre teamed with Ruben Greiner to defeat the Hawkeyes' Michael Swank and Garret Dunn 8-6 in No. 1 doubles play, and went on to beat Matt Hagan 6-3, 6-2.
Indre is 11-3 overall in singles play this year, including a 10-2 in dual matches and a 9-2 record at No. 1.
