TULSA, Okla. - Western Michigan men's tennis player Nadin Indre took competed in the qualifying draw of the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Tournament, with the Bronco senior battling a difficult seeded opponent before falling in three sets on Monday night.
Indre entered the match as the #124 singles player in the country, and found himself facing #74 Clay Thompson of UCLA in the qualifying round. Indre, who recently won his 100th match as a Bronco and boasted a record of 2-2 against nationally-ranked opposition in 2012-13, took the first set from Thompson, downing him 6-4 before losing by an identical score in the second set. Thompson eked out the three-set with with a 6-1 third set victory.
Indre has a 7-2 record in singles on the year and had been on a five-match singles win streak entering the match against Thompson. Just last week, Indre was the victor of the Flight A Singles draw at the Purdue Fall Invitational, beating UW-Green Bay's Howard Scott in the finals in a straight sets win. He will be back in action, as will the rest of the Bronco men's tennis team, at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.
Indre is a two-time First Team All-MAC performer, as well as a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree. The 2012 MAC Player of the Year and MAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Indre has compiled a 57-20 record in singles play in just two years at WMU. He is 9-1 overall in MAC singles matches in two years, with his sole loss coming during the 2011-12 season.
