Head Coach Andy Murray
On
tonight's game overall...
"Michigan came in here determined
and played very hard. Coach Berenson commented during the week on how he felt
they had their game back, and they started very strong tonight. We were not
happy with our start, but our level of determination and battling to get back
in the game made up for it. We beat Michigan. The type of team they have, they
will be heard from before the end of this season. Our game tonight left us with
a gratifying three points."
On
Frank Slubowski's performance...
"I thought Frank played solid in
net tonight. He had a lot more shots then we would have like, and certainly a
lot more than we're used to. But that is a credit to our opponent. The fire
power that they have allowed them to play very well tonight, and we were not at
our best. To be quite honest with you, five of our top six players were not on
their game tonight. They need to be better tomorrow. The good part of it is
that we found a way to get three points, and now we can prepare and be better
tomorrow."
On
what tonight's win means...
"We won tonight, and that's it. We
came back in the room and the guys were kind of sitting around with their heads
down and I had to remind them that we just won. We just won a big game here
tonight, against an opponent who was very determined."
On
Trevor Elias...
"You want a player who gets you
fired up, and get's your team going. Trevor is that guy. He is hard in the puck
and competes. His mother and father were here tonight from Calgary, and they
were here last time he got the game winning goal so we're going to work on
getting them US citizenship. He plays very well when his family is here, and he
plays well all the time for that matter."
Senior Forward Trevor Elias
On
Michigan's play in the beginning of the game...
"We knew they were going to be
fired up to play against us coming in to tonight. They heard lots of energy and
sound coming on to the ice tonight, and they probably wanted to silence us and
silence the fans. We knew it was going to be a full sixty minutes of hard
battling up and down the ice. We didn't do the greatest job off the start, but
we came back and got the win."
On
Elias' goal...
"We knew we had to play more
physically coming in to the second. We had to keep playing our style of game
which is being miserable to play against. We just couldn't let up, kept it
going."
On
beating UofM at home...
"We haven't been able to play
Michigan at home very often. I believe this is my first time in the four years
that I've been here. I think it shows you where this program is going. Every
year we keep getting better and better."
Sophomore Forward Justin Kovacs
On
Michigan's two quick goals...
"They came out hard, and we didn't
come out how we wanted to. They just kept pushing us and we found a way to come
back."
On
his assist to Hargrove...
"I saw Leone was working in the
corner and came out of it, so I went behind the net and he found me. Then I
came out front and Colton was going to the net hard and I found a way to put it
on his stick and he found a way to bury it."
Freshman Forward Colton Hargrove
On
Michigan's two quick goals...
"We just stuck to our systems and
we didn't give up. We knew we had to get back in the game, so we got the
pressure up. We found a way to get two goals and we were back in it."
On
his goal tonight...
"Someone changed and I jumped on
and headed straight for the net. I know good things happen when you go to the
net. Kovacs saw me going and he put the puck on my tape and it went it."
On
fighting to get back versus holding the lead...
"There was a time right after
Michigan's second goal that guys were a little down and nervous. Coach gave us
some motivation to keep going, and stick to the system. We just needed to play
hard, and do everything that we do well. Holding a three to two lead was very
nerve racking but we got through it."
