FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- For the first time since the 2000-01 the Western Michigan hockey team landed two student-athletes on the All-CCHA team as released by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association on Wednesday afternoon. Defensemen
Matt Tennyson and
Dan DeKeyser were both named Second Team All-CCHA as voted on by the league's coaches.
Forwards Mike Bishai and David Gove were the last two Broncos to be named All-CCHA in the same season, with both making the second team.
Tennyson, a junior from Pleasanton, Calif., was the top goal-scoring defenseman on the team with six goals in conference play and nine overall. From the blue line he also tallied eight assists in CCHA play. Tennyson had two multi-point games during conference play with a two-goal outburst in a 4-2 win at No. 6 Ferris State and a two-assist game in a 6-1 win over Bowling Green.
DeKeyser was WMU's lock-down defenseman and finished the conference season with a +11 plus/minus rating. He also racked up three goals and six assists, including two goals in WMU's 3-0 shutout win at No. 1 Ferris State to close down the regular season. DeKeyser also led the team with 51 blocked shots in 28 CCHA games.
This is only the second time in program history that WMU has had two defenseman be named All-CCHA in the same season. Chris MacDonald and Wayne Gagne were named all-conference during the 1985-86 season with Gagne being named First Team All-CCHA and MacDonald making the second team.

Shane Berschbach also recieved votes.
The Broncos host Lake Superior State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, in the CCHA Quarterfinals. All games are at 7 p.m.
