PINEHURST, N.C. - Junior Kaylee Imel shot a 3-under par 69, tied for the program's third lowest single round ever, and is tied for 13th at the Pinehurst #6 Challenge.

Her previous career low round was the opening round at the 2010 Nittany Lion Women's Invitational.

"I made a minor adjustment, alignment, and then everything just clicked," commented Imel.  "I was able to take advantage of short par 5's and I putted well all day.

"I'd say my 15th hole of the first round was where I started to build confidence.  I closed out my round pretty well.  I opened the second round birdie, par, bogey and then birdied my fifth, sixth and seventh holes."

Imel had 29 putts during the second round, including two-putt birdies on a pair of par 5's.  Most impressive is the fact that Imel shaved nine strokes off her first and second round scores.

Western Michigan is tied for 14th after two rounds of play, carding an opening round of 312 followed by a 303.  The Broncos are tied with Georgetown heading into Tuesday's final round. 

North Carolina State holds the team lead at 571 (-5).  Maryland and East Carolina are tied for second at 586, followed by Old Dominion (589) and UNC-Wilmington (593).

Leah Grawburg and Heather Marks carded identical 5-over par 77's in the opening round, a stroke more than Marks' career low.  Melissa Beurmann also shot a 5-over par 77 in Monday's second round.

North Carolina State's Vivian Tsui is the individual 36-hole leader at 4-under par (140).  The Wolfpack's Ana Menendez and East Carolina's Emily Eng fired the day's low rounds of the day, 5-under par 67.

The final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m., with a shot gun start.
