Head Coach Andy
Murray
On the win:
"Well certainly anytime you play a CCHA team, every game is
going to be a battle. Northern Michigan came in here missing a couple of their
top guys but they fought tooth-and-nail. It was down to the hockey game again
with the goalie pulled and your heart is in your throat because you'd like to
score again. The power play wasn't as good as we need it to be, certainly
getting the six points was the best part of the weekend."
On momentum from wins:
"I don't like the word momentum. Everyone uses the word
momentum, but what is it? To me, I love hearing coaches say, 'we've got
momentum,.' Well that's great but do you think you're next opponent cares if
you've got momentum? You've got to focus on your next shift and the next game.
We played some solid hockey and that's the bottom line."
Senior Forward Trevor
Ilias
On the offensive
effort tonight:
"We knew they were going to come in and battle, and that it
was going to be a grind right to the end. We're a team that does as much as we can
by getting guys to the net."
On his goal:
"It's always nice to get the monkey off the back. I just
come to practice every day and do my best, and work as hard as I can."
Sophomore Goalie
Frank Slubowski
On his effort this
weekend:
"I would say below average in the first game for sure. I
think I responded pretty well, and our team battled hard and gave me a lot of
support."
On playing against
such an offensive team:
"It was a tough game, especially mentally. I stayed in there
with it and was able to make some saves."
On the season so far:
"Obviously we want to win the championship, that's the goal for
everyone. We want to keep improving and making strides towards that."
