Head Coach Andy Murray
"I think it was a big win for our team. Coming off of a couple of defeats last weekend, we needed to get back on the winning track. Bowling Green wears their jersey with pride, too, they work hard, and we talked about that before the game. I reminded them of that after
the 2nd period as well. This is a proud team we're playing, here, they're going to battle us, so we need to be ready. For us the most gratifying part is the three points."
Did they look like a 1st place team tonight?
"The first five minutes of the second period weren't as good as we needed them to be. Really, to me, first, second, third, as long as we're up there at the end of the year, that's what's important. Do I have a bonus in my contract if they're first in January? I think it's at the end of the year. People don't care where we're at this time of year, it's where we are at the end."
BG took over in the 3rd
"Yeah I think we put too much pressure on our defense. I think our defense wasn't as good as moving the puck out of the zone as we'd like. I expect Bowling Green is going to be even better tomorrow, and we're going to have to be better than that."
On Walters
"I don't notice individual players too much during the course of the game. I'm focusing on our team play. Of course I'm watching the guys do the right things as well and reinforcing that."
Dane Walters
"I just got out and played. It felt really good to get back. It felt good getting out there, connect with my line mates again, didn't lose any chemistry, it was just good to get out there and get the win."
"Their goalie was standing on his head, he was making unbelievable saves, he was moving side to side faster than anybody I've seen this year, he was playing outstanding. We just made a point of it, after the first period, to just get more shots on him, and eventually he'll
crack. Get in tight, make a move, change directions on him. Luckily on my first goal, I just got the puck quick and snapped it up before he was ready. Quick surprise shots are always good. Just throwing as much at the net as you can. Good way to end up with positive results."
"After the second period, I made it a goal of our line to just play solid the rest of the game, and not give up any scoring chances for them and play solid defensively, and we did. I'm just as happy for Berschbach to get that goal as I would be for anyone, he deserves it
just as much. It was just good to get the win."
Greg Squires
How'd it feel to watch your goal go in?
"Like a big weight off my shoulders. Plus a monkey. But to be honest, it felt good, but I never really think about that. As long as the team's winning and we play well. I just tapped it in, it was a great play by Crew."
"We get something in our mind and we're going to get it. We're a hardworking team, work hard in practice."
"We show up to the rink today no doubt in our mind we were getting those three points. We did everything we could, hits, block shots, shots on net."
On Walters
"Dane is the hardest working kid on the team. He shoots a hundred pucks a day, at least. So when he gets that puck, he's gonna stay on course, he's gonna pick a corner. No surprise he scored two goals, we weren't all "Oh, Dane!" he's just a hard worker and he's playing
amazing this year."
