KALAMAZOO -- Ohio goalkeeper Mattie Liston made 11 saves and Kelsey Pichel had her corner kick curl in untouched 3:36 into overtime as Western Michigan fell to Ohio, 2-1, in Mid-American Conference action on Friday afternoon.
Pichel lobbed the corner kick that dropped into the far right corner with help of gusty 20 mile-per-hour winds to seal the victory for Ohio. The Broncos (5-6-0, 1-2-0 MAC) took a leading the 56th minute when
Anina Cicerone netted her career-high sixth goal of the season. Cicerone picked up a pass from
Stephanie Skowneski at the top of the box and drilled the ball into the upper-right corner of the net.
Ohio tied the game in the 70th minute after a shot by Rachael Philpot hit the cross bar and Toye Famodu knocked in the rebound for her second goal of the season.
The Broncos dominated possession as well as shots, outshooting the Bobcats 24-12 with a 12-5 edge for shots on goal but were unable to take advantage. WMU goalkeeper
Michelle Watson made three saves on the day but was handed her fifth loss of the season.
