Head Coach Andy Murray
Thoughts on the game
Well again, a great weekend for State. You get what you deserve,
and they were certainly deserving of the victory here tonight. Both games were
a battle, a couple of situations either way, and in those situations they were
better than we were. They were certainly solid in their win.
First real adversity you've
faced this year, how do you help the guys through it?
I think we face adversity every single time we step on the ice.
We'll come tomorrow, we'll prepare to play Notre Dame, and that's our objective
right now. Obviously heads are hanging a little bit low right now, and they
should be, deservedly so. But tomorrow you get those heads up, you come to
work, put the skates on, we'll practice and we'll prepare to go to Notre Dame
and play another great team. It's just an indication to me of how great this
league is, and how well-balanced. Each game in this series hung on a couple of
pivotal moments, and we didn't execute and they did. And that's the way the
game works.
Struggled with the
forecheck
We had 40 shots last night. We turned some pucks over when we had
the puck, but not on the forecheck. I thought we turned it over a few too many
times, but I don't think our forecheck was as much our problem as our puck
management. We have to manage the puck better. We have to be better.
Did the guys press too much
after falling behind?
I've been around this sport a lot, and when you win, there's a
Book of Winning, and you take it out, and you can answer all the things about
winning. We played as a team, we competed hard, we battled, we were
disciplined, we were good with the puck. The Book of Losing, I could pull it
out and answer all the questions tonight. We were pressing too much, we were
tight, we let the fans get to us, all the different things. But ultimately, we
have to be better, as coaches, as individual players, and raise our level for
the next game. We simple have to be better. Great fans, what an exciting
atmosphere, it's a great advertising for hockey - that's for sure.

Take us through your goal
that tied the game
It was a bit of a cluster. Starting right with the faceoff, they
were kicking guys out, they were switching, we were switching. Beebe was there
to get control of the puck, kick it into the zone, and make a nice play back to
me, and I just found the back of the net.
Mood in the locker room
The guys are really down, but that's just the way it's played out
right now. But we're also thinking about what we're going to do Tuesday to take
care of Notre Dame and get back on track here.
Offense this weekend? Press
too much?
It's pretty obvious when we've got all the lines going, and
everyone's playing their roles well, we generate a lot of offense, a lot of
scoring chances. There's just some mistakes that we make that we need to
correct and we should be alright.
