DETROIT - Ford Field was the sight of the annual Mid-American Conference Media Day on Friday. Among the attendees were 13 head coaches, 26 student-athletes, various university administrators and a throng of media members from across Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.
The video above includes Western Michigan head coach Bill Cubit discussing his coaching staff's early preparations for August camp, a high level look at the offensive and defensive units and a brief discussion about some of the portions of the 2010 schedule for fans to keep an eye on.
Footage of Cubit, Jordan White and Jamail Berry during their interview with Matt Sheperd for the MAC's live online stream of the event follows Coach Cubit and precedes White and Berry talking about their experience during media day, what they are excited about heading into the 2010 campaign and what they feel they, and their respective positional units, need to work on to be successful this year.
The final portion of the video is an interview with Ken Mather, the MAC assistant commissioner for media & public relations, regarding the conference's ability to attract media members from across the region to Detroit for this annual event and, with the executive director of the BCS Bill Hancock on hand, the MAC's "seat at the table" in terms of having a decision-making voice in the landscape of college football.
Western Michigan opens fall camp on Aug. 9 with 26 days to prepare for the 2010 season opener at Michigan State on Sept. 4. The game will air live on ESPN2 at 12 p.m.
