MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team made short work of No. 6 Chicago State, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Championships on Thursday morning.
The No. 3 Broncos (19-10) advance to the semifinals on Friday at 2 p.m. to play tournament host and second-seeded Ball State.
Junior Casey Cullen and sophomore Pablo Olivarez won the race for first off with an 8-0 win at No. 3, followed by junior Kazuya Komada and sophomore Zeyad Montasser with an 8-0 win at No. 2.
Freshman Simon Blomberg won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles in the first match off the court, quickly followed by Olivarez with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 and Cullen with his own shut out victory at No. 4.
The remaining matches were stopped when the match was decided.
