KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team swept a pair of matches, 7-0, over Butler and Bradley on Sunday at West Hills Athletic Club.
The Broncos (10-4) won 17-of-18 matches to run their winning streak to three matches after knocking off the Bulldogs (3-6) and Braves (2-8).
Junior Casey Cullen led the way for the Broncos by going 4-0 on the day. He won twice at No. 2 doubles with junior Kazuya Komda over Butler, 8-4, and Bradley, 8-1. He won 6-4, 6-3 in the clinching match at No. 5 singles against Butler and was first off with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 against Bradley.
Junior Michael Calderone won at No. 1 vs. Bradley and No. 2 against Butler, while sophomore Pablo Olivarez won at No. 2 against Bradley and No. 3 against Butler. Freshman Simon Blomberg also played singles in both matches and won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 against Butler and 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 against Bradley.
The Broncos go back on the road next weekend when they head south to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the HEB Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday.
