KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan trailed by just six at halftime and it wasn't until late in the game that No. 15/20 Michigan State pulled away in Friday night's 62-50 loss. A season-best 1,380 were in attendance.

Ebony Cleary led WMU with 16 points and seven rebounds and sophomore
Aurielle Anderson had a career night, scoring 15 points. Anderson also grabbed five rebounds and had three steals.
Taylor Manley was the third Bronco to reach double figures, chipping in 11 points.
Brenna Banktson tied Cleary with a team-best seven rebounds.
The Broncos turned the ball over just 15 times and forced the Spartans into 22 mistakes. The only time WMU committed less turnovers this season was 14 against Southern Illinois. Western Michigan also had a respectable night from the field, shooting 30.8 percent in the first half and improving to 40.9 percent in the second for an overall percentage of 35.4.
Michigan State (9-1) was able to take advantage of its size down low and on the glass, outscoring Western Michigan in the paint, 28-12, and outrebounding the Broncos, 40-30.
MSU opened the game on a 13-3 run, but Western Michigan hung around and cut the lead to six at halftime. WMU scored the final four points of the first half, including a buzzer-beater by Manley just inside the three-point arc as the horn sounded.
The Broncos got the deficit down to five twice in the second half. With a 35-30 lead four minutes into the second, Michigan State went on a 19-6 run over the next 10 minutes, hitting three three's in that stretch. Facing an 18-point deficit, the Broncos outscored MSU by six in the final five minutes for a 62-50 final.
The 12-point margin of victory was the fourth lowest of the season for the Spartans, who posted a 14-point victory over No. 17/20 Texas five days ago.
Western Michigan (2-8) returns to University Arena Sunday, hosting Youngstown State at 2 p.m.
