FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Western Michigan's Patrick Galivan has been named RBC Financial Group Central Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Month and for the second straight month freshman Greg Squires has been named CCHA Rookie of the Month on Tuesday afternoon.

The five-foot-10 forward  helped the Broncos to a 5-2-1 record during the month and securing home ice advantage for the first round of the CCHA Playoffs.

During the month he extended his point scoring streak that began on Jan. 23 at Ohio State to 12 games, tallying 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points during the streak. He also finished the month on a seven games scoring streak, netting nine goals. His push in the month of February helped propel him to CCHA Scoring Champion, tallying 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points in 28 conference games.

Squires (White Plains, N.Y./Indiana Ice, USHL) was the top scoring rookie in the CCHA for the month of February and third nationally among freshmen during the month. He tallied two goals and seven assists for nine points. He finished the month tallying a point in the last five games and began the month with a four point weekend, including his first career three point game, against Nebraska-Omaha. Squires finished the regular season fifth in freshmen scoring with 17 points in 28 conference games.

This is the second straight CCHA Rookie of the Month award for Squires, who won it for the month of January as well.

Squires and Galivan will be in action along with the rest of the Bronco hockey team this weekend when they host Lake Superior State in the first round of the CCHA Playoffs. Friday's game is at 7:35 p.m. and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit Plus, with Saturday's game being broadcast on Comcast. If need be, Sunday's game will also start at 7:35 p.m.
