KALAMAZOO -- The No. 60 Western Michigan men's tennis team started off the day with a Mid-American Conference win in their home opener against Chicago State, 7-0, at West Hills Athletic Club Saturday afternoon.  The Broncos (6-1,1-0 MAC) then played rival Kalamazoo College taking another 7-0 victory on the evening.

Western Michigan started off strong on the afternoon taking all three doubles matches allowing Chicago State eight games in their 8-3, 8-2, 8-3, victories at doubles led by No. 1 doubles Alex Birchmeier and Michael Calderone, then No. 3 doubles with Casey Cullen and Kazuya Komada, finished out with No. 2 doubles with Alejandro Staub with Bryan Norville.

Junior Kevin Hayward won both singles matches at No. 1 singles against Chicago State and Kalamazoo College, 6-1, 6-2, followed by finishing first with a win at No. 3 doubles with R.K. Bacalla, 8-0, against Kalamazoo College.  Bryan Norville also added a pair of match wins against Probowo Imanuel of Chicago State, 6-0, 7-5 and defeated Matt Wise of Kalamazoo College, 6-3, 6-2.  Freshman Michael Calderone finished first in singles competition against Chicago State defeating Toni Todoric, 6-0, 6-1.
