On being able to pull out the win

I think our team played really well. I was on top of my game. I was focused. There was a lot of preparation and I felt good out there.

On the shootout

It's one of my favorite things. They're a lot of fun. I enjoy them.

 

On the number of shots

I like getting a lot of shots. It keeps you on your game, keeps you focused. It's not bad.

 

On the tying goal by the extra attacker.

We did it last week and it keeps working. So I don't mind. However you can get that tying goal.

 

Best save

It was probably in the first period, the grab save, especially with the timing of it. I thought it was pretty good.

 

On the big saves

Absolutely. I love the big saves, and the momentum of the game.

 

On stopping 40 shots

We focused a lot on that in practice and the penalty kill. I make sure all the shots I see I stop.

This is one of our better ones and I think we played really well. We didn't give up.

On how big this win is for the team

It's a real exciting win for the team. It's our first conference win and it's good to get off on a good note to start out conference play.

 

On the game overall

I thought we played really well. I thought we had a really good second period. I think we did a good job on coming back in the third and winning the battles.

 

On his goal

Oh yeah, the first second after it went in I didn't think it did. After that it was fun.

 

On the shootout

I think it's very exciting. Obviously today I like it even more.

On the shootout

I think we're going to be asked this question quite a bit this year. I think as a fan it's unbelievable. It's one of the more exciting things that you can see in hockey. I'm excited. I get it. Obviously I'm pleased about the outcome tonight. But when you step back from that, our conference champion, our regular season champion, is going to be determined by a shooter and a goalie. Playoff season is going to be determined by a shooter and a goalie. I'm a traditionalist. I like seeing the game played five on five.  But I think it brings a lot of excitement to tonight's game. And Jerry was obviously up to the task against all three shooters.

I'd say this one is right up there with last Saturday's game. Last Saturday's game and the game tonight in over time had a very similar pace and battles. I'm extremely impressed right now and the way that we've prepared for the upcoming season and the teams we've played. I think it's a testament to our game itself and the coaches and the players. The pace of tonight's game was incredible.

 

 On the number of shots

I don't think it was deceiving. Ferris is a club that the last couple of years they'll throw everything at you. They'll shoot from everywhere. They'll shoot from their own defensive zone. They're just tenacious, great jump in their legs and yeah, they got a bunch of pucks on net.
