CLEVELAND, Ohio - Jamarko Simmons, ranked fourth in the country in receptions (53) and seventh in receptions per game (7.57) was named a Phil Steele Third Team Mid-season All-American on Friday. Simmons was one of three Mid-American Conference players to be named to the list.
Simmons became only the second Bronco with 200 career receptions last week against Buffalo when he caught 10 balls for 103 yards. He currently ranks fourth in the country with 53 catches and seven in the nation with 7.57 catches per game. He is also just 30 receptions from becoming the program's all-time leader, surpassing NFL rising star Greg Jennings.
Just days ago Simmons and four teammates were named to Phil Steele's Mid-season All-MAC team and for the second time this season, Simmons was the wide receiver to watch for heading into a game according to Phil Steele.
The Flint, Mich., native has no less than five games remaining in his career and he is 40 receptions from becoming WMU's all-time leader, he is four TD receptions from becoming only the fourth Bronco to reach 20 receiving touchdowns and he is 676 yards from becoming the the third Bronco to reach 3,000 yards receiving in a career.
