KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team improved to 4-3 on the season after a 5-2 defeat of No. 71 ranked Depaul (4-2) on Sunday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club.
The No. 56 nationally-ranked Broncos earned the first point of the competition to go up, 1-0, on the Blue Demons after taking two out of three matches in doubles play.
DePaul evened the score, 1-1, after picking up a win at three singles. The tied score did not last long as Tim Bradshaw gave the lead back to the Broncos, 2-1, with a win a one singles. Kevin Hayward and John Pelton clitched the match with wins at four and five singles. Brady Crosby took two singles and DePaul won at six singles to close out the match for the, 5-2, Bronco victory.
The Broncos travelled across town later in the afternoon to defeat Kalamazoo College, ranked 13th nationally in Division III, 6-1 in the annual Wager Cup match. The Broncos have now won 10 straight meetings against the Hornets.
