Broncos Stumble at Eastern Michigan, 69-45

Box Score

YPSILANTI, Mich.? Eastern Michigan (14-11, 9-5 MAC) put a halt to Western Michigan's (12-16, 5-9 MAC) three-game win streak, as the Broncos fell in Ypsilanti, 69-45, Wednesday night.

Lindsey Brown led WMU with 18 points and 13 rebounds. It was her second-straight, and eighth overall, double-double of the season.

Carrie Moore set her sixth school record of the year, breaking WMU's field goals in a season mark of 227, but was limited to just 11 points on 4-of-19 shooting from the floor.

Eastern Michigan jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game, and the Eagles' pesky defense kept WMU out of an offensive rhythm for much of the night. Tiera DeLaHoussaye picked up three early fouls and exited the game with five fouls with 7:31 remaining.

The Broncos trailed at the half, 25-16. Brown accounted for eight of those points.

Things didn't get much easier for Western Michigan, and the Eagles were able to pull away with hot shooting in the second-half. EMU shot 46 percent on the evening, and 55.9 percent in the second half, going 7-for-24 from three-point range.

The Broncos hit just one three and were held to 33.3 percent from the field.

Michelle DeNooyer chipped in a career-high six points for the Broncos. Moore added six assists and five rebounds. Amanda Parker also collected five boards.

Three players totaled double figures for EMU, led by Sarah VanMetre's 17 points.

Western Michigan will look to get back to its winning ways on Sunday, Feb. 25, hosting Northern Illinois at 12 p.m. The Bronco seniors will be recognized prior to the game, which is to be televised live on Comcast Local/FSN Ohio/CSN Chicago.
