Box Score

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Martin Browne scored three goals to lead Western Illinois to a 4-0 non-conference win over Western Michigan Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.  The contest marked the first meeting between the schools in 27 years.

Brown opened scoring with a header in the box after freshman goalkeeper Joe Cindric made two point-blank stops in goal.  Cindric registered six saves in his first career start.

Brown completed his hat trick in the second half, sliding to tip a ball into the net in the 32nd minute, then accepting a through pass from Nick Bohnenkamp in the box for a low liner in the 56th minute.

The Leathernecks (6-4-0) finished with a 19-7 advantage in total shots, as WMU placed three shots on goal.  The loss was just the second in the last 17 home games for the Brown & Gold.

WMU (2-6-0) continues its home stand on Wednesday (Sept. 27), taking on Oakland at 3 p.m.
