Box Score

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Ferris State scored three goals in the second period to register a 4-2 victory over Western Michigan at Lawson Arena.  The Central Collegiate Hockey Association series resumes tomorrow night in Big Rapids.

Sophomore center Adam Miller contributed three points (two goals, assist) to earn Perani Cup No. 1 Star honors as Ferris State improved to 3-0 in the season series.

The game's key moment occurred in the second period, when FSU's Greg Rallo scored a short-handed marker while WMU (6-18-4/6-13-3 CCHA) was on a five-minute power play, the result of Alex Spezia being ejected for a checking from behind major.  FSU later added a power play marker, while WMU managed four shots on goal during the period.

"That was a big momentum swing in the hockey game," said WMU coach Jim Culhane.

WMU's Brent Walton opened scoring 3:06 into the first period, collapsing on a rebound to the left of goaltender Mitch O' Keefe.  It marked the second straight year Walton has reached the 20-goal plateau.

Mike Lesperance added the other Bronco tally, scoring short-handed on a breakaway with 8:54 left in regulation.
