WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. -- The No. 74 Western Michigan men's tennis team pushed its win streak to 10 straight matches with victories against Buffalo and No. 75 Cornell Friday night.
The Broncos (12-1, 1-0 MAC) won all nine matches against the Bulls to win, 7-0, in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams and did not drop a set in singles.
The going was a little tougher against Cornell. The Broncos claimed the doubles point with wins by Alex Birchmeier and Jose Orozco at two doubles, their ninth win in a row, and Tim Bradshaw and Jeff French at three doubles. Bradshaw then ran his dual singles record to 10-0 this season with a win at one singles. Brady Crosby, Kevin Hayward and French followed with singles wins at two, five and six to clinch the win.
With three wins in the doubleheader, Crosby moved all alone into 23rd place on the Broncos all-time wins list with 132 victories.
The Broncos head south to Corpus Christi, Texas, next week for the HEB Corpus Christi Invitational. Western Michigan opens the tournament against UNLV Thursday morning at 9 a.m. local time.
