TAMPA BAY, Fla. - Former Western Michigan Bronco Ronald "Bo" Rogers was signed by the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League as announced by the organization on Nov. 1. Rogers was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection during his time in the Brown & Gold.
Rogers, a 5-10, 185-pound cornerback from Western Michigan comes to the Storm from the Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League. He was an All-American and a First Team All-MAC selection during his senior year. Rogers finished college with 14 interceptions, 214 tackles, 39 pass deflections, one sack, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
The Miami, Fla., native, who returns to his home state with this signing, set career highs in tackles (11) and interceptions (two) against Missouri on Sept. 18, 1999. He returned a kick off 92 yards for a touchdown against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 29, 2001 and had a career-best four pass deflections in the MAC Championship Game on Dec. 2, 200.
He signed as a rookie free agent with the St. Louis Rams in 2002 and was released by the Rams in training camp. He then joined the New York Giants practice squad in September of 2002. In 2003 he played for the NFL Europe's Scottish Claymores, recording 33 tackles, one interception and five pass break-ups. He joined the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League in 2004 before signing with the Renegades. In two seasons with the Renegades he had 58 tackles, two interceptions, five pass break-ups and one fumble recovery.
Current offensive graduate assistant A.J. Ricker spent the 2006 season with the Storm, appearing in 16 games and making seven tackles and recovering four fumbles.
