KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Senior guard Carrie Moore scored a game-high 22 points to lead Western Michigan past Saginaw Valley State, 72-60, in exhibition action Wednesday in University Arena.
Moore added 11 boards for the double-double, and was joined in double figure scoring by senior center Lindsey Brown (16 points) and Tiera DeLaHoussaye (10 points). A total of 14 Broncos saw action in the contest.
The Broncos trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, but shot 56.3 percent from the floor the final 20 minutes to overcome a determined Cardinal team. Ron Stewart's team recorded 22 steals, forcing SVSU into 33 turnovers on the evening.
"Defensively we played pretty well, and we got better as the game wore on," said Stewart, whose team held SVSU to 24 second-half points. "We made some strides with our play in the second half."
WMU closes exhibition play by hosting Hillsdale on Friday (Nov. 3). Tipoff is 7 p.m. in University Arena.
