Bronco Icers Suffer 5-2 Loss to Bowling Green

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Jan. 14) -- Western Michigan came up short in its quest for a weekend sweep as Bowling Green posted a 5-2 victory at Lawson Arena Saturday evening.  The Broncos won Friday, 5-4, at BG.

Western Michigan (5-14-3/5-9-2 CCHA) jumped to a 2-0 lead on a short-handed goal from Mike Erickson and an even-strength tally from Mike Lesperance, scored 3:55 apart in the second period.

Bowling Green (11-12-1/7-9-1 CCHA) rebounded with five unanswered goals, scoring three times in the middle frame and twice in the third period.  Brett Pilkington (goal, assist) and Jonathan Matsumoto (goal, assist) led the way as the Falcons finished with a 34-20 shot advantage. 

Daniel Bellissimo, who did not play last night, returned in goal and recorded 29 saves.

WMU travels to first-place Miami next weekend (Jan. 20-21)
