Box Score

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Carrie Moore became the 18th player in Western Michigan University women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points as she led the Bronco squad to a (92-77) victory at Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon.

The win marks head coach Ron Stewart's 120th career victory.  WMU improved its overall record to 2-4 while Cleveland State falls to 2-6.

Moore led all players after recording a career-high 37 points while going 12-of-14 from the free throw line.  Senior Casey Rost added 13 points to the Broncos victory and was 2-of-3 from the 3-point line while teammate junior Lindsey Brown also had 13 points.

Moore's 37 points ties the opponent single game scoring record in the Wolstein Center which is also held by LaToya Turner from Ohio State that was last set on Nov. 17, 2000.

WMU shot 58.3 percent from the field for the game and was 32-of-39 from the free throw line.

It was a close game for WMU and the Vikings up until late in the first half after four ties and six lead changes.

The Broncos went on an 8-0 run to build a 31-23 lead after a lay-up from Brown with 6:09 left in the first half.

Moore became the 18th player in school history when she recorded her 1,000th point at the 4:12 mark off of a free throw.  Moore had 18 points alone in the first period and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.  The Brown & Gold's largest lead of the first period was 21 points (49-28) that came off of a 3-pointer from junior Nicole Watkins with just 22 seconds left in half.

The Broncos continued to cruise past the Vikings in the second period.  Cleveland State continued to foul WMU and turned the ball over given the Broncos even more opportunities to score.  Rost made it an 82-62 ball game off of a free throw with 4:15 left in the game.

WMU women's basketball returns to Kalamazoo on Dec. 14 when it hosts Northwestern in University Arena at 7:00 p.m.
