Box Score

Big Rapids, Mich. ? Western Michigan fell behind early and couldn't recover in suffering a 6-0 loss to Ferris State in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action from Ewigleben Arena.  The slumping Broncos have been outscored, 18-1, in their last three games.

Ferris State (3-2-4/2-1-4 CCHA) scored twice in each period as Adam Miller and Mark Bomersback registered multiple-goal games.  FSU started strong with a pair of goals from Nick Scheible and Greg Rallo in the opening six minutes of the contest.

Up 3-0, FSU then relied on special teams to put the game away, scoring three times on the power play to finish 3-for-10 on the night.

The Broncos (2-5-0/2-3-0 CCHA), who dip below .500 in league play for the first time, were out-shot, 44-32 as freshman goaltender Mitch O'Keefe recorded his first collegiate shutout.

“They capitalized on their scoring chances and we didn't,” said WMU coach Jim Culhane. “I thought we responded well early in the game but couldn't find the back of the net.”

The teams close their home-and-home series Saturday (7:35 p.m.) in Lawson Arena.
