Tony Scheffler Named Academic All-District

Kalamazoo, Mich. ? Senior tight end Tony Scheffler was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team on Nov. 10.  Scheffler, a marketing major with a 3.85 GPA, is now on the ballot for Academic All-America.

The Chelsea, Mich., native is no stranger to accolades for his work in the classroom.  He was also a member of the Academic All-District IV First Team in 2004.  Scheffler shines on the field as well, racking up 546 yards and seven touchdowns on 43 receptions this season.

Among tight ends, Scheffler ranks fourth in the nation in receptions and fifth in the country in receiving yards.  He is less than 200 yards from leading all tight ends at Western Michigan in receiving yards.  Jake Moreland, currently the Broncos' tight end coach, ended his tenure in the Brown & Gold with 1,414 yards.  Scheffler currently has 1,221 career yards.

Western Michigan (6-3, 4-2 MAC) is preparing for its final home game of the season.  The Broncos will face Central Michigan (5-4, 4-2 MAC) at 2:00 p.m. at Waldo Stadium.  The game can be seen live on FSN Ohio, Comcast Local, CSN Chicago and Adelphia 13 Buffalo.  The game can also be heard live on the Bronco Radio Network.
